Lol I can think of a dozen things worse to clean than this, one of the most notable ones being a regular potato masher.

Also they say it's heat resistant, and although I'm not sure to what temperature it's rated, here's a pic of mine that I've owned for years, used recklessly hundreds of times, and not taken particularly good care of:

I actually came here to sing the praises of this thing and mention how easy it is to clean. Works so good for mashing anything, and is also good at helping to brown ground meat.

This is the best and easiest to clean mashing implement I've ever owned, and the only complaint I could really think of is if you're going for a smoother textured it's probably not ideal, but frankly whipping or using a mixer is probably the better way to go for potatoes and the like in that case anyway.
I have one of these and it doesn't really mash, it separates into smaller pieces.
least favorite kitchen utensil to clean. also it's nylon so the heat resistance means you won't notice it melting but it's still gonna leach the nasties into your food.

If you're not in a hurry, you can get this for $4~5 at TJ Maxx/Marshalls.
It's very useful to keep one in the kitchen. You can use it to mash potatoes and ground beef.

  • Looks convenient, but ... you're going to use a spatula later to stir/flip the meat, meats going to get stuck between the blades, and it takes space to store or you're going to have to make space for it.
  • If it was a Dollar store item for $1, I'd give it a try, so ....PASS

Yea, I'm confused how this is hard to clean. There are no nooks and crannies, and it's presumably non-stick. Even my traditional metal potato masher is easy to clean.

Actually annoying-to-clean are stuff like cheese graters and coffee bean grinders.

We have a Pampered Chef version that we've had for probably a decade now. Ground meat tends to get caught along the far inside edges of the blades. I usually have to take a table knife and scrape that area before tossing it into the dishwasher.

If you brown a lot of ground meat, it is a useful tool to get everything into about the same size.

Have one, another silly tool brought home from Pampered Chef, I prefer to use a bamboo turner to break up meat.
Stiffer, can cut through even partially frozen ground beef, breaks apart Italian sausage, easier to clean, won't melt, stores flat, many more uses than this gadget.

Biggest issue I have with cleaning is that the nylon won't stay pristine and tiny bits of connective tissue in ground meat and sausage will hang onto the edges after being pressed in while breaking it up.
Also bits stay in the crevices between the wedges during use, these are easy enough to rinse off, but difficult to shake off back into the pan.
Banging on the edge of the skillet sometimes sends bits from the top side flying.
Generally most everything comes off in a long hot dishwasher cycle though.

These things are awful. Spatulas are so much better for breaking up meat for tacos.
