In the Q&A, someone said this has a clamping voltage of 1200v. I think general consensus is to have a clamping voltage near 300v for important/expensive electronics.

Really, this seems like it would be fine for a lot of low powered/inexpensive things... not sure I'd use it for my phone, TV/sound system or computers.
That's what I thought. Until lightening stuck my neighbor's house across the street and also blew up all the outlets in my garage and the garage door opener thingy.

It's like insurance. You don't need it until you do.

Edit:
You got it right. I stand corrected.

Black version is $21.99 and white one is $26.99.
You have to select AnkerDirekt as seller not Woot/Amazon like I originally did.

Black showed $21.99 with prime. I went with like-new for $20 since I'm not prime.

So tempting, but NY Times said the surge protection performed dreadfully. Is it worth it just for a power strip with USB-A/C?

Only one USB-C port and it outputs only 20w? And on top of that the surge protection sucks? Doesn't seem like quite the product that I'd want in my home.

I have one at work. I plug in lots of small draw wallworts. It is nice only having one power strip on my desk and haven't run out of outlets since.

One of the reviewers said that they could only use one USB port at a time but isn't sure if they got a defected piece or it's intended to be like that. Can someone confirm if this is true?

Got one. There's a mess of cords at my desk that needs to be sorted. This should do the trick!

That's horrible might as well be a power strip and not even a surge protector.
