Great as a temporary solution. Currently have them but they have their faults. I have one pointed outside but the reflection from the window makes it useless. I have one pointed at the front door and it works great for that. Reliable notifications but for real use, you need the cloud subscription. Will eventually have everything POE but that's a bigger project. again, these are great temporary use

Setup was a hassle, and the night vision range is shorter than expected.

Like others have said these are good for temporary. Quality isn't great but decent. It does the job, but I think there are better devices out there now. At $25 each, they are OK. I wouldn't pay anymore for them. If you have other uses, then great. I have been using these with a solar panel and motion solar light for over a year now. They haven't quit yet. I mounted one on a tree also. I highly recommend a solar light and panel with these to make them maintenance-free and colored video at night. You will also need an sdcard to record if you don't want to pay cloud storage. Images are decent, but it does miss the first few seconds of an event. I noticed this problem on all the wireless battery powered security camera I have so far even arlo.

Can the 2 cameras work independently or require a hub

For the price these are fine for home surveillance, you can't expect much at $50. I bought these the last time they were this price, added a 512 micro SD card to the base for local recording. The La View app works fine, the battery for each camera last about 4-6 months.

Once Arlo ended email notifications for Arlo Pro, I've pretty much given up on recharging and putting back up. I realize I'm just too lazy.

I'm done with anything that has a subscription. Everything seems to have gone that route but I'm not interested in endless payments for supposed updates

I would suggest get two tapo c120 for 60$ and you would have much better quality and reliability

They work but not the best quality. SSD card takes care of strorage to forego the cloud. The "AI" detection is bogus and does not work properly... tech support finally stopped responding. Biggest issue is the app won't connect when using a VPN.

I bought these in Jan of 22, they went almost 2 years on a single charge. For an easy basic system, I can't complain. Notifications are spotty, but my purpose - on a large rural property, these have been great to check the perimeter at night or see who is at the door when needed or if packages were delivered. I have one at the front door and one about 100 feet from the hub on an electric pole, night vision is pretty good, I can see the entire front of a large ranch with detail, speaker does work when I use it, been waiting to add a couple more so thank you OP - exactly what I needed.

Can you use them without subscription with local recording?
