Warning: Don't try lying to a cat. Cats know tuna.

The contents of the can are about 85% tuna.

Proof below.

Canned tuna is 19% protein by mass.
(Source - BumbleBee tuna label, which shows 16g protein in a 85g serving)

That seems close to 90% water, but meat is mostly water. This tuna is not dehydrated or freeze-dried to remove the natural tuna water.

Raw Skipjack tuna is 22% protein by mass (chunk light is skipjack)
(Source: https://fdc.nal.usda.gov/fdc-app....utrients).

Since no ingredient on the nutrition label has protein other than the tuna, it can be derived that the can is 86% tuna. (19% protein for canned tuna/22% for raw tuna).

Of course, I can simply tell by texture, flavor, and smell that it is mostly tuna, but I know humans have less refined palettes, and need nutrition labels.
Lower per ounce cost on this deal, but it's 12oz cans.

Tuna connoisseur here.
I actually prefer chunk light to the more expensive canned tuna. Greater umami flavor and lower in mercury.

The cat knows.

I love this stuff. If you make it a dietary staple though, you should add a taurine supplement. For cats, taurine is an essential amino acid, and very important if we aren't eating raw prey animals like mice.

Taurine is an essential amino acid for babies. Adults can make their own taurine, but there are high amounts of it in meat and fish. Normally, enough taurine is made in the human body from cysteine and hypotaurine. Taurine has many functions in the body including working as a neurotransmitter in the brain.

As a tuna connoisseur can your recommend a solid solid brand in water with Greater umami flavor and lower in mercury. I'm not a fan of chunk.
