Right. The classic one has a rooster on it, not a dragon

The real good stuff isn't real anymore since they screwed over their pepper supplier.

I've tried many since then. Yellowbird Blue Agave is the good one.

Huy Fong is the real stuff, though rarely at a good price.
And noone cares about a mega supplier getting "screwed over" by another mega company.

Buy what you like!

Still good tbh. The color is a bit off but I still find it pretty tasty.

Renegging after the crop has already been planted is pretty f'ed up.

So thats what I was doing in Texas..... Man now I got to get a bottle to check the quality of my work! Not at $7 though will wait for it to drop under $5. Man I remember the good old days when this stuff was all around $3....

They keep having shortages because of it. And their new peppers don't taste the same. Less spicy.

What's f'ed up is trying to take over someone's business, which ironically they kind of did:

Tran has come to believe that Underwood was trying to drive him to bankruptcy, then steal his sauce business. "I helped him because he grew chili for me," he says. "He made money, he owned land. But it is not enough. He wanted to take over my business." It felt like being "stabbed in the back," adds Donna Lam, Tran's sister-in-law and executive operations officer.

Even with the disruptions in production caused by the ongoing chili supply crisis, Huy Fong hasn't laid off any of its 115 employees, Lam tells me. "David paid out of his pocket to keep them there," Lam says. "This is not the person that would cheat someone." .

Meanwhile, an hour and a half's drive away, Underwood has launched his own chili sauce business. Underwood Ranches has a long way to go before it can put the disaster of the past few years behind it, but its fields are now planted with a mix of tomatoes for canning, potatoes, onions, Brussels sprouts, pumpkins, and other crops..

I'm actually more surprised Huy Fong only had one supplier the entire time and didn't try to at least get backup suppliers to diversify the risk.

Is that a good or bad thing in spicy sauces?

The real stuff tastes exactly the same as before and is only a little bit more expensive now that it's back in stock in stores at Walmart.

Underwood Ranches get the good peppers now, so that's the good stuff, imo. Side by side taste test for me definitely gives the heat edge to Underwood. Besides, Huy Fong has stopped production again, until September at least.
