Want to bet that this laptop will be this price again or lower in the next 30-60 days, I am more than confident in the trend modeled off how frequently the previous generation went on sale for the exact same $999 price point.

If I am right it will play out like this, after this week it goes back to regular, stays that price one - two weeks, goes on sale again but for $1100, than again back to regular for 1-2 weeks and then drops back to this $1050 or better.

That was the trend with the previous one and pretty confident in this one joining suit. Worse case scenario your probably only out an additional $50 cause unless there is a major electronics or components shortage prices wont be increasing.
The Asus has the better processor, by how much varies by benchmark but between 5-15% is the variance.

The Legion had the newer network card wifi 6E and newer bluetooth 5.3 compared to Wifi 6 and 5.2.

Besides that they are pretty identical outside of the screen which you already mentioned and yes the Legion one is superior so if you plan to be looking at it instead of external monitors regularly might be worth it for you.

That being said this price for this laptop is the "new" average sale price. It has been this price multiple times in the past now, so if you dont get it now probably not a big deal as it will probably be this price again in 3-4 weeks if not cheaper to match up with the last year model of this laptop that it replaced, that has fallen under $1000.

Is this a better deal than the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 posted earlier? I notice the lenovo has a better screen but lacks the thunderbolt port; any other thoughts worth considering?

Dude, what is your deal? Your comment was fine and actually somewhat helpful but then you had to add that last bit. Can't you comment without adding a nonsensical element trying your best to undermine a deal?
This is only the second time this deal has been available at this price, out of a total of 4 times that this laptop has been posted.
The first time this laptop was posted was at $1149.99: https://slickdeals.net/f/17465949-asus-tuf-f15-laptop-15-6-fhd-144hz-ips-i7-13620h-rtx-4070-16gb-ddr5-1tb-gen4-ssd-win11h-1149-99-f-s?src=SiteSearchV2Algo
Then at this price it was posted once but the deal only lasted for a few hours hence it couldn't even make it to FP: https://slickdeals.net/f/17515851-asus-tuf-f15-laptop-15-6-fhd-144hz-ips-i7-13620h-rtx-4070-16gb-ddr5-1tb-gen4-ssd-win11h-1049-99-f-s?src=SiteSearchV2Algo
The third time the price was again increased to $1099.99: https://slickdeals.net/f/17521530-asus-tuf-f15-laptop-15-6-fhd-144hz-i7-13620h-16gb-ram-1tb-ssd-rtx-4070-1100-free-shipping?src=SiteSearchV2Algo

And the fourth time is right now. So, at a price of $1049.99 this is only the second time it's posted and not the "multiple times" as you stated and certainly isn't the "new average sale price". You were already warned in the previous post yet here you are again.

Whether this would be this price again, that's a different story. Yes, it would because that's how deals mostly work. When? No one knows. It could be after 2 weeks or even after a month or more.

Stupid question but the F15 runs off a 180watt power supply?

and I'll be the first to comment only 300 nits. I play on the surface of the Sun and need at least 5,000,000 nits. and laptop better have good thermals.

I'm more concerned about the IPS that somehow only has 72%ntsc that's like the most basic modern IPS technology

I can't speak to this model in particular but I've exclusively bought Asus TUF for my gaming laptops for the past 6 years, and both are still kicking with 0 issues.

Is the ram upgradable? If so, is it worth upgrading it ourselves? or just buy the 32gb version of this or similar. Thanks for your comments

I have a child starting college in engineering. I have to purchase a laptop for him. What features does the i7 have that makes you content with paying $800 more than this deal?

Better screen, better battery life, more powerful GPU, has two NVME SSD slots, so more storage possible. Build quality is unmatched.

I have this laptop from last year. Mine is a bit older but I guess it's still the same laptop. It's a beautiful laptop. Runs super hot on games. ASUS software is a bit questionable. The laptop freezes from time to time for like a few minutes when the laptop boots.
