Skil was 34% slower than M12 Fuel in Torque Test Channels impact driver driving test. 21.9 seconds versus 16.4 for the Fuel. https://youtu.be/h3U0TPpauGs?t=653
This is the 12V which some like better than the 20V. If you're a new home owner not planning to tackle huge projects these will do fine for 99% of what you need.
100% the fuel is the better tool, I agree with you there. I know you didn't mention it, but the value here is significantly better for people not using their tools every day or just the basic homeowner. A similar priced kit from Milwaukee for their m12 fuel stuff is probably 2x as expensive, even with hacks.

SKIL PWR CORE are fantastic! They don't have the distribution and marketing power of the big behemoths. (I'm looking at you, Ryobi, Milwaukee, and DeWalt!)

But the 20V PWR CORE brushless drill and impact drivers I have are so much more compact and nicer than their Ryobi brushless equivalents.

This coming from a Ryobi die-hard. (Former DeWalt.)

These are perfect for just that. My full size 18v are a pain to use overhead and these came in handy for my recent rollershade installation. I have the same set and it's great.

Really great deal for the 2nd Gen Kit. This has the newer impact and drill. Have M12 tools and from videos I've watched these can keep up easy with M12 Fuel tools.

Also 12v line up isn't bad for a home owner that just needs a few tools. Circular saw. Hackzall. Right angle drill. Impact wrench. Right angle impact socket wrench. Lights.

If you just need a couple tools and smaller size and lighter weight, def consider these.

Nobody is threading on a nylon washer 8 inches onto a bolt. The peak torque of this kept up with the m12. And the average screw will be .5 seconds quicker with the M12 Fuel. Then there is the fact that this is half the price than the M12 Fuel in this kit. I'll stick by what I said in my last post.

If you need tools for a living go to the M12. If you need a incredible amount of tools go to the M12.

I personally have a dozen M12 Fuel tools. I wouldn't be mad if I had these Skil at this price.

The Skil is a fine tool and great value, but saying "it can keep up easy with M12 Fuel" just isn't true.

The 12v Skil impact driver's maximum torque is fine, but that really shouldn't be the only metric that you judge compact little lightweight 12v impact drivers by. I'm sorry that the speed test in that video didn't meet your specifications, but nevertheless, it does show that the Skil can't keep up with the better M12.

I agree (I wasn't the one who said it could easily keep up with it, I just replied to your post). M12 also has the benefit of a huge line up of tools for the future. I was just commenting on value more than anything else, which I think we agree on.

Nice kit. I sold my small and nimble Bosch 12v kit shortly after I got 18v brushless tools. I regret that decision. The smaller 12v kit handled almost all of my household and vehicle maintenance projects and just felt nice to use compared to the bigger and more powerful system.

As someone invested in the M12 and M18 ecosystem for work, I'm considering this for home use. This way I didn't have to bring tools in from the truck. 🤔

I still say it can keep up or keep up easily.

You say "max torque is fine but should be the only metric". Well I say screwing a nylon nut onto a 10 inch bolt shouldn't be the only metric either.

The two tools match each other in Total torque aka keeps up easily.

This video shows that with 10 decks screws, normal job for a impact driver, the Skil was 2 seconds more. Again KEEPS UP WITH.
https://youtu.be/cCl3nGwb2Qc?t=274

The only time the M12 decently beats the Skil is for something that requires high torque quickly. Like a 1/2 or bigger lag bolts. If you need high torque plus high speed a Ryobi 18v Brushless will be quicker and better than the M12 for less.

If the M12 is a 10/10 than the Skil is 9.5/10. And with this sale over half the price. Again Keeps up with is accurate.

PS I own Gen 2 M12 Fuel drill and impact. I'm a fan.

Got this at Lowe's for $99 2 years ago. My quick go too. Just picked up a 4Ah battery for 29.99 from Amazon the other day. Bought the circular saw too. Really like this set

I guess if your job is to screw on nylon washers 8 inches onto a bolt ALL DAY LONG, go with the milwaukee. Otherwise the Skil is so highly underrated and Id recommend it all day long over the m12 variants due to the fantastic value.

I got this Ryobi set (link below), but ended up returning it because I didn't like/need the saws and light. I really just need the drills and kinda want the multi tool. I know people really recommend brushless. How does this Skil set compare? Do you think it would be a better option for me?
