I currently use Smart things to manage the house. Can you explain what this would do? I'm looking over the Amazon page and still can't figure out if it'd be a benefit. Can you just use it as a standalone (plug it into a powered adapter) or does it have to be connected to a computer?

it needs to be connected to a computer. most people plug this into a raspberry pi or similar type of device and run the home assistant software. This configuration would be a replacement to say your smart things hub
