I received the unit yesterday from expo and it was shipped to me already damaged. Three corners were crushed and the inner styrofoam was broken yet the outer shipping box was not damaged. plus the Denon box was filthy as if someone played football with it prior to shipping.

During prime day, electronics expo was manipulating their pricing every 10 minutes. Each time amazon changed the price, EE changed their price to be below amazon. That way EE ended up as the primary seller when you refreshed the page. I waited until the evening to order the unit and it dropped an extra $100 from morning to evening. The first listed seller consistently changed back and forth between amazon and electronics expo.

When you purchased it, they were in the "buy box". I have done millions of transactions on Amazon as a seller, what you described did not happen. You simply made the mistake of purchasing the item from a 3rd party seller and not Amazon. There was no trick, Amazon didn't change the order from Sold by Amazon, to Sold by EE after the sale. I just want you to understand how Amazon works, so you don't make the same mistake again.

I called EE during the sale and questions why the pricing was changing every 10 minutes. They specifically told me they were doing this to be on the top of search results. I finally decided to make a purchase when it hit a price I wanted to spend, like the stock market. I was on the product page and hitting f5. Originally it did say sold by amazon. Granted I did check out quickly, though I absolutely admit I could have skimmed over the 'review cart' page checked out quick.
Constantly changing a price throughout a day is manipulation, no matter the intention.

Some sellers may have a repricer setting active to undercut prices (which sounds like that's what EE was doing in this example), so their software will lower their price every time someone matches them. That's just how it works. Nothing is manipulative about it, just trying to "win" the buy box, which leads to most of the sales. There's many reasons sellers do this.
When you hit Add to Cart, EE was in the buy box at that moment, and I'm certain it was displayed on the page. Nothing changed from when you hit Add to Cart. You just missed that it wasn't Amazon in the buy box when you decided to make the purchase.
i miss the old days when stores and websites sold their own products. I don't believe any third party seller should exist through official channels. Amazon sells amazon, Walmart sells Walmart, etc.

Here's an example: say my company bought a LOT of Denon receivers to sell. They didn't sell well, and the new model is coming out and it's going to lead to a drop in value on the current model. I lower my price to try to sell through my inventory before I take a big hit, now all the other sellers on Amazon aren't going to get sales while I'm in the buy box for having the best price. They're likely not just going to sit there and let this happen, so they match my price. Again my software will undercut them because I'm trying to sell my inventory as quick as possible. This is good for the customer, they're getting lowering prices. The only issue is perhaps if I'm not an authorized Denon reseller. But Amazon is very clear who the seller is, and who's fulfilling the order. So unless a buyer isn't paying attention, it's very transparent.
