Amazing product and Great deal but signing for REI membership (free) will get you another $20 off it. The price has been around this for couple of months now.

Any deal on 715 camera version? I want to avoid to have two devices hanging from the back.
Longtime cyclist, awesome product. Lets you know of cars (and e-bikes) overtaking well before you can hear them. Next to my helmet, most essential safety item in my bike. 10/10 recommend for all cyclists that venture onto the road. If it works once it pays for itself.
It can record in 1080p or 720p.

Using an action camera might be okay for short rides, but battery life is the main drawback - not to mention they don't include radar and rear blinking light.

With camera @ 1080p and camera on 100% of the time, you can get 6hours in daylight flash mode with the RCT715. You can also config camera just to turn on when it picks up a vehicle, but not sure how much battery that adds.

I've heard the video quality of the camera version is pretty bad.

Comes up at this price fairly regularly, and worth the money in my opinion.

What's the resolution setting. I have an akaso for front at 2k/60fps. Heard that gopro can go to 5k/60fps but overheats and shuts down. At least many of the previous versions

Best deal I've seen is $329 from biketiresdirect.com. Should be still that price if you are a gold member (free). Garmin Varia RCT715 Radar With Camera [010-02474-00] (biketiresdirect.com)

I have the RCT715, but only have used it for 3 rides (after running the 515 for years). The RCT715 definitely gives me more peace of mind - the camera quality is NOT action-cam quality, but the thing is a safety device. The app has also been much improved since launch and they introduced data overlays. So when you record, you get your speed and the car speed on the video.

Which akaso did you have that you find acceptable to use?

This should be required if you ride on 2 lane canyon roads with no shoulder.

Todays eco and electric cars are so quite you can't hear them over your breathing lol

If you were on your trainer, it isn't gonna be much help with that.

All kidding aside, this adds in alerting others approaching you with a red light and detects them as they do giving you audible/visual warning.
What didn't work for with this?

Do you have a Garmin head unit? If so, it's hard to imagine why it didn't work for you. I find them indispensable for road riding, and pretty great for trail riding (it even alerts on bicyclists that are coming up from behind to pass, which is nice as some people are jerks and don't announce "on your left").

I love my Garmin Varia radar tail light, its a must to deal with shit drivers in las Vegas. It goes on sale for $150 pretty often, never seen it cheaper myself. If you don't have one, get one, it will work with many cycle computers and your phone with the App installed.
