Watts are not volts, it's like if a truck can tow 5000#, it can tow anything less than 5000#.
Unlike volts, if a TV needs 120v and you use 240v, you are likely to break it.
It shouldn't be any problem at all to oversized the power supply.
With usbc, the supply, cable, and device all talk to each other to make sure you won't break anything. The original question might have been asking which power delivery modes the Steam deck supports. The answer is 3a@15v & 2.25a@20v. Even if your supply supports a billion watts, if it doesn't support either of these two modes, it will not work at all (but no worries about frying anything).

To answer the original question: correct, the deck does not support the extra wattage.

Not the intended use case, but curious if the Steam Deck, whose dock transmits 45 watts, would accept the extra 20 watts the ROG Charger/Dock listed here provides, or is that extra power delivery lost on the SD.

EDIT: I don't think I did a good job explaining my question above based on the replies below. To clarify - will this charge the Steam Deck at 65 watts or at 45 watts?

It will charge at 45 watts. If both devices have updated firmware, there shouldn't be any other issues. No risk of damaging either device.

I bought two last time. It does not work very well with DEX, There are Asus firmware updates for this charger, but even with the latest firmware updates it will occasionally disconnect and reconnect. It also gets really hot charging my 14in i3 laptop.
