Just got this for 14$ about 3 weeks ago.
Nah. It's fine for the switch. 18W is plenty when not using the dock. If it's docked, I have no idea why you're powering it with this, but in any case, if it's docked then they recommend 45W and said it may not charge if under 28W is provided.
Agreed, but there is also a usb-c port, so at least it won't be useless if the built-in cable stops working. Also allows you to purchase/use a usb-c to lightning cable if you need to.

30w at this size and price is tempting, but now that someone mentioned $14, that's the price I want.

I would not use this on a switch. 30W is below the OEM charger and I believe Nintendo recommends 39W minimum.

Prime Day was $17.99 as well so not sure how $14 was possible.

Yes it would but would be on and off and wouldn't charge as fast as a normal charger would

I just don't like the idea of a built-in cable. Why not make a USB c port and give a USB c cable? What a missed opportunity...

I don't have this model yet (although I just ordered a couple), but I do have an older version of this by Anker, which also has the built-in cable. I've had no problems with the cable at all, and I actually prefer this design for my use case - my kids will unplug and lose usb cables, but with these that isn't a risk.

Assuming typical Anker quality, this sounds like a great deal. If you don't like the permanent attached cables, there are plenty of alternative power banks without them.
