If you have a high-end Sony, LG, TCL, Hisense, or Panasonic (EU and APAC), then it is definitely worth it.
Cheap non-OLEDs might say DV on the box, but won't have the brightness to make any difference with DV on.

Side by side, I'd bet almost no one can tell the difference between hdr10 and DV, but many discs are encoded in DV. This player also has dynamic tone mapping. So if you have an OLED from before 2020, you want this player. Otherwise, you don't need the tone mapping as much.

(I have a projector and opted for the 420).

I have the UBK90 and went with the Sony xm700 because I wanted SACD support.
The Pioneer doesn't support that even though it is much more expensive.

If you have a large physical media collection and use a projector, this guy is a no-brainer (Though as previous posts have mentioned, the UB-420 is likely a better price/performance combination for projector users as practically no projectors on the market are capable of supporting Dolby Vision anyhow -Sometihng I didn't realize when I bought the 820 lol).
All in all though, this is a very nice player and it works ever so nicely w/ my Epson projector, Denon AVR and a Logitech Harmony hub for control. Highly recommended for film buffs who enjoy the benefits of physical media!
