Onkyo products are still having HDMI issues. Bought a 7100 from a Slickdeal and it failed at 32 days (just after the return period) Still under warranty so sent it in for warranty repair. It has been at the repair shop for 3 months waiting on parts and I nor the repar shop have an ETA on the replacement HDMI board!

Just got this about a month ago on the last sale (same price). Paired with Klipsch RP600M bookshelf speakers. Works well in the master bedroom tv. Just need to find a small sub and central speaker to pair it.

I've had bad experiences with Onkyo in the past with receivers breaking and HDMI issues after only a year. I'm tempted to buy but I have my concerns about reliability. Has Onkyo's quality improved or is this just going to be another problem in a short time, thx.

I've been looking to upgrade from an older receiver for my shop outside to add Bluetooth.

Is this a good option for the price?

I've had the same. Mainly with HDMI boards going out. I'm personally staying away from them going forward.

I bought an Onkyo TX-NR585 4-5 years ago. Cnet called it "The best AV receiver for the money" and in my experience the Bluetooth has sucked. I called Onkyo and they had me bring it to a repair shop that said the BT transmitter was fine. But after multiple residences and multiple entertainment centers and hours and hours of trying to find a fix, it still will lag sometimes when using other devices. I don't think I can buy another Onkyo after this

I wrote a whole Ruby control library for these things like a decade ago, but I too had HDMI board problems on mine because of low budget capacitors.

The replacement board's been going fine for a while, but I still don't think I'd buy Onkyo new.

Been there, done that. An inexcusable QA blunder.to save a few cents on capacitors.

Going to try it. I have a 20 year old Denon receiver that's great but only has Dolby Digital. Running in a 5.0 setup and plan to continue that with this one. It will be nice to have the audio setup tech. Going from 110w to 80w for an AB receiver is my only concern. If it can't drive my speakers it's going back.

Just in time. My Onkyo TX SR-505 stopped working (red power light blinking) but was great for 16 years. Hopefully this one will be good for the next 15 years

Good luck! I know the older Onkyo models had much better capacitors and didn't suffer from the HDMI boards going out like some of the recent models.
