How much of a pain is it to maintain the filter? I see some folks have had to fabricate pre-filters to keep it from getting clogged too fast. Do you use higher-AH batteries to keep it from killing them too fast?

Same here. The HD deal was actually better if you're a Mil/Vet with their !0% off stacking making it only $90 shipped.

Now to find a decent deal on a battery and charger. All my previous Dewalt cordless were the old style slip in rather than slide on, some are even NiCad rather than Lithium. Why does the convenience of cordless have to be so hard to keep up with?

If others go to use it educate them on the difference between the On/Off switch and the Dust bowl release button.
My wife (who only uses it occasionally) has dumped a "full" vacuum twice.

Bought this last year on the same deal. Use it for the camper. It's a beast and works pretty well in my opinion. If you have DeWalt batteries, this is a good deal.

I agree. I bought this and still have it, but rarely use it because the vacuum just isn't that good. I almost always go for my Craftsman V20 (or 20v?) which is better vacuum power/suction without a doubt.

75dB isn't atrociously bad nor something you "literally" have to wear hearing protection for.
