I agree with you and this is also the same recipe I used. I found it watching some YouTube videos and also other forums.
.

I tried other ratios and even using a different soap brand (ajax) but could not get it to foam. Eventually, I decided to buy a small 5oz bottle of dawn soap just to try it and it worked great.

.
I made a huge batch for 6 bottles so i can easily refill when needed. I used the same formula/recipe/ratio that you mentioned and I used the ultimate dawn soap. (i also converted it to milliliters to be more exact on the scale). I dumped it all in a 90 oz empty bottle of Ajax for easy storage.

.
Powerwash formula for 6 bottles/refills:

Water 380 ml (13 oz) x 6 = 2280 ml (78 oz)
Alcohol 30 ml (1 oz) x 6 = 180 ml (6 oz)
Dawn Soap 60 ml (2oz) x 6 = 360 (12 oz)
.

For alcohol, I used the 91%.
.

And you can see in the picture, I marked the 90 oz bottle of Ajax for next time I make another batch.

I am a big fan of this stuff. I bought it once, and now I make my own refill. You use the same bottle, add four tablespoons of dawn, two tablespoons of rubbing alcohol, and then fill the bottle up with water and give it a light shake to mix it up.
Rubbing alcohol is a key ingredient for these Powerwash foaming sprays, so yes; that's what makes it foam and allows it to cut grease so effectively.

I haven't needed to use this on dishes since I don't cook often, but I've used this as a stain remover on food stains in my laundry. I got the Gain one on sale before, and even though I'm using it on laundry, I found the fragrance overpowering and terrible. I can't imagine using it in the kitchen.

Yes, I think so. It helps clean and helps spray. I like that it is effective cleaning, and now Dawn soap is like a concentrate for me. I used to go through a bottle every couple of months. I bought a bottle a couple of months ago, and I have used like 1/8 of it. I think a bottle will last my a year or more.

If you look at the ingredients of the Powerwash, rubbing alcohol (denat alcohol) is listed as an ingredient.

Costco has 64.5 total fl oz (1 bottle + 2 refills) for $10.39 at my local club that comes out like $0.65 cheaper than getting 3 of these. A little better of a deal if you need a few anyway but don't need all the bottles.
You just want the sprayer bottle, then make the refills yourself. Buy the Dawn Plat liquid when it's on sale at Costco and rubbing alcohol at Walmart.

Thanks for the details, I also make my own, but ordered few from this deal to get the spray bottles. Empty spray bottles I buy is not lasting more than a month.

90/91/93% prob the way to go, if you can get it cheap enough to make sense per % over the 70% stuff, otherwise just buy 70% and use more of it bcuz cheaper. But, if you have Costco membership, just wait until the 96oz or whatever jug of Dawn Plat goes on sale for $9ish.

I don't like the strong smell this gives out. But it works surprisingly well on my stainless fridge to remove smudges.

No you can't make your own to be as effective. You are missing the cleating agents which provide much of the grease-cutting. Because it foams and look the same does not mean it's the same

When I do the self made refills, i just fill the bottle with 1/3 concentrated dish soap, 2/3 water, and shake the piss out of it. Works great and have made dozens of refills.

It may not be, but the differences don't seem significant to me, and I do a lot of dishes. I have three kids and cook a lot.

The dishes go into the dishwasher, but I handwash my pots and pans. I stick all my pots and pans in the sink, wet them a bit, and spray my DIY powerwash all over them. Once I can the table and put the leftovers away, I clean the pots and pans. I barely ever have to scrub anything.

If I can save $4.00 every month or so, it is well worth it. I can use 8X-10X more of the DIY version for the same cost.

I can make my own for about $0.35 a bottle vs $2.75 for this deal, or Powerwash is about $5.00 normally.
