For those wondering
- 19 gauge steel
- Doesn't have soft close drawers
- has a plastic component that is used to keep drawer closed that is prone to fail

These things are pretty nice.
Orders are allowed. Expect 2-4 weeks. We have a thread going on the r/ for it for everyone to post their total savings on combo tool storage tomorrow. Most stores do not stock the item at all so orders will be very common and the staff in the store are expecting it. This is going to be a big seller.
Someone on SD post this tip about this time last year for getting 25% off coupons. Just open a second 'burner' account and stop using your main account. And they'll start emailing these "We Miss You. Come on back, 25% off coupons". I got 5 or 6 coupon offers in the last year.

And the Qs don't have a $ limit or exclude tool storage.

I think it used to be thicker...maybe they don't want it to compete against the ICON. And no purple color hehe

Series 2 has thicker steel than series 3, and I think another drawer. I don't recall the rest offhand.

These US General units seem to be quite popular. Is that because they're better than everything else for size & price or has this brand itself (and Harbor Freight in general) just gained enough hype from days past when they were cheaper & more sturdy?

I don't have time to deal with this this week. I hope to just order today. I went in yesterday and the employee said delivery dates would be next month sometime. that will give me time to clean out the garage

If you take this home in a pickup truck, it's a 3-4-person job to offload it. Don't be tempted to remove drawers to make it lighter, as the slides have a habit of releasing ball bearings if it is slightly misaligned. The Series2 had the right column full of narrow drawers...not a good use of space. The wider top drawers on Series3 will let you store more rows of sockets without overflowing to another drawer. Also can hold longer prybar.

This. It weighs 366 pounds.

FYI- I tested shipping charges online with some other big cabinets because this USG 56" isn't available online today. It "seems" like the standard rate for Truck Shipping is $136. YMMV

These are good for what they are. I know a couple people who use these in a professional shop. I think they are a bit too shallow in draw depth. That is the main difference between a consumer and pro tool box is the gauge of the steel, the slides and how deep the drawers are. The box specs say 22" so the draws are going to be maybe 19" deep. The ICON 56" is listed at 25" so the draws will be 22" deep.

The problem Harbor Freight has in trying to get the pro tech market is this. Yeah this box is cheap but most will want to step up to a sturdier build for the reasons I mentioned. The ICON 56" is $2500. Sure, you can get coupons and even get their credit line, which I hear they will only give you $2500 in credit even with an 800 score.

But the big problem for them is that pro toolboxes do not hold value, like the actual tools that sit inside them do. I can find KRL master series snap on boxes all day between $1500 to $2500 on marketplace. The entry level KRA boxes can be found for less than a grand if you are patient. This US General box is the clone of the KRA.

I think their stuff is good though. I have their 34" 6 drawer cart, and it is built better than the snap on 34" and 40" cart. When you grab the push handle on the snap on cart the entire side of the cart flexes. The us general cart does not, when loaded. The only service cart built better in my opinion currently than the us general is the Matco Jamestown service cart, that is built very well.

How's everyone transporting these? Rent a pick up truck if you don't have one?

Modern pickups are too tall. A trailer or low access van would be easier.

UHaul 15' Box Truck has ramp.

Or just a trailer if you can tow.
