If you click the "See In-Store Clearance Price" on the product page it should show the clearance price in store. Looks like its set up to go clearance just hasn't everywhere yet.

If that option isnt there that means its not in stock in store... or maybe only 1 is in stock.

Probably just a black Friday / holiday bundle.

Guessing that it's approaching whatever internal "sell by" date HD has for kits due to battery shelf life. Check the date code (small white sticker on the back of the box) if you find one.

FWIW, in my own limited experience with older new-in-box product, I've never encountered a non-functional battery in any old stock Dewalt or Bosch kit, with date codes as much as 4-5 years old. I did have a clearance Hart 40V that I had do the 'wire another battery to it for a few minutes trick' to bring the voltage up enough so it would take a charge.

Hmm, when I click "See In-Store Clearance Price" it shows $169 and 11 in stock.

Because it is a bad tool. probably. This model is supposed to be replaced sometime soon. It's really old and gets s**t on by $60 Walmart hyper tough impacts. For $100 you can get a 1/2" hyper tough impact with a battery and charger that puts 4x more torque than this. Not a typo. Four times as much.

Also, Home Depot annd acme often get the new m1/2 3/8" and 1/2" stubby impact kits for about $155 that absolutely destroy this thing in every conceivable metric.

Price will go down at some point next month. If you do get one, hold on to receipt to price match when it inevitably goes down to $80 ish

This is a ludicrous statement. This is one of the best compact impacts made. The hyper tough that is the same size class is marginally more powerful with the absolute largest battery and slightly less powerful with the smaller battery it comes with. Is it amazingly cheap, sure. But that's its only real advantage. If you want to buy team yellow this is a great deal.

The Torque Test Channel has the Hyper Tough as the number one cordless compact impact wrench (#3 overall). The DeWalt is ranked #12. Not a bad one, by any means, but the HT is a much better value at less than half the price.

Another YouTube channel guy who uses these at his job said that they fail due to 12gauge wires and matching weak circuit board. The mid and high torque are legit. Also you would need to buy a 4ah and real charger for the compact 1/2 which gets you to the same price.

For my dad I just bought this kit since he already has some DeWalt tools, the head on this one is about as short as you can get and the power is good, just what you want for working on cars.

I bought this 2 months back for $186. it's still within the return period right now. Does anyone know if HD would do a price adjustment?

You should be able to do a return/rebuy. Or simply return it and buy the clearance model. With receipts of course

Hyper Tough sucks. It's hyper crap. Dewalt has the greatest products if you actually put them through the ringer.
