I bought a plain black chroma mousepad about 2 years ago, and the lights got really dim over time, and now they only really are noticeable close to where the cord connects to the mousepad. Really disappointing considering the price. And it seems like this is a common issue.

It appears as though the plain black one is $60 on Amazon. I really like this deal but don't play Halo... Dang

Also has "5 Challenge Swaps" per the halo infinite razer website. Not sure if this helps for anyone though.

I would suggest a bigger/taller mousepad also. This is only 11.6" tall, the Corsair MM700 RGB I use is 15.8" x 36.6" and I think Hyper X makes one (maybe not anymore?) that size also and maybe some other brands.

Is the material on these much better than some of the cheaper options?

I'd get but passing due to the height of the pad. It's wide enough at 36", but the height is not enough at just under a foot. The one I have now is almost 16" and it's about as short as I would want. I like my wrists to also be on the pad while typing, with the top of the keyboard near the top of the pad. With this one, wrists would be on the stone cold table!

You don't actually need to play Halo to use this pad. They did away with the Halo trivia test before you buy.

That being said, this is a waste of a USB spot. RGB is on everything and looks tacky 95% of the time. My PC case came pre-installed with RGB fans but they stay off at all times. RGB has been overdone and killed the aesthetic.

This price is average at best. You can get a decent mat for $10-15 usually.

Thanks! I just snagged it. I've been in the market for a new one for a while now. There were some cool LOTR ones, or Rome, but they didn't have RGB!

I paid a little less than $10 more for one with a built-in wireless charger that is more useful that I thought it would be. I rarely take the time to plug in my phone or ear buds if they are partially charged, but with the mat, if I sit down at my desk, I naturally just place my phone or buds there. This is the one I bought:

There are loads of the 15.8 x 36.6. Do a search on 90cm x 40cm mousepad and tons will come up. I have about 20 because I like to swap them out and I use a couple at a time (L shaped desk).

The only ones I've bought that were actually an improvement over the no-name brands on Amazon were some from Drop.com Marvel desk mats years ago when they were on sale. There were/are super thick. The rest are all basically the same thing with different pictures on them.
Note: I have about 20 of them and I routinely buy them for other folks.

That one is now next on my purchase list. Thanks!

I've had mine since September 2020 and no noticeable difference. Sounds like you got a bad one.
