This is honestly a really good deal. It has an extra ram slot which is very rare these days. You could slap another 16gb in there for $20 and have a fairly powerful little laptop for $340.
Seems like no USB C dock support. I would have pulled the trigger if it did.

Yes, I wish it had USB-C charging and a back-lit keyboard. Otherwise a good deal.

Lack of USB-C power is a dealbreaker in an otherwise great laptop. Why? Why???

Question from a newbie, what's the benefit of USB-C power? Is it so that the charger can be reused between different devices and you don't need to buy something that's specific to a single device only?

Yes. Also you can plug in once to get power, keyboard, mouse, external monitor, and more. I use my laptop in three plugged in locations. In a typical day, I'll use one or two of those locations, but I'll go unplugged another three or four times as I move about. I don't want to buy two extra power adapters and have to plug in extra devices every time. It would get annoying. I know this, because I've had laptops for decades, and I used to have to do all of that. I own so many Dell power adapters for different models, and countless more for other models. It's just silly.

In Europe, they're going to outlaw bundling power adapters with devices. Think of how many USB chargers you have sitting in a box. I figure I have 30. So good for the environment too.

Exactly this. I have 8 things plugged in to the dock to set me up for work and personal business.

I can swap work laptop with my laptop with one usb c cable. All other cables and adapters are hidden in a power box with the dock.

Now imagine unplugging and rep lugging all that two to three times a day. Slightly loose keyboard or webcam. The troubleshooting. All those cables and adapters clutttering up the desk. Had enough of that. I NEED USB C dock/power support.

Need something to handle occassional sunlight/glare, for automotive tuning. Would a display like this be good for that?

Yes, the 8Gb RAM listed is soldered in but the unit has a free, single slot to add additional RAM.

Just got the AMD equivalent of this laptop (https://www.bestbuy.com/site/leno...Id=6588662).

It's a little cheaper than this one. But no touchscreen, 16 GB ram instead of 8 GB. Bummer it doesn't charge thru USB C either. I've got a few old Lenovo chargers laying around (yellow rectangular), does anyone know if there's an adapter for this charger from the yellow ones?

Btw. Screen brightness is only 220 nits, which is fine since I never bring it outdoor.

I know you said you won't upgrade it, but you could just buy this and have 24GB of ram for $340 total. It's super easy to add, so I'd just have the kids dad do it. https://a.co/d/7q9tksY
