Rigid tools aren't part of the mainstream dewalt v. milwaukee conversations, but I have 3 rigid tools i've purchased purely out of pricing and have found them to be excellent. Use the inflator for my camper tires, circular saw, too. They have a pretty impressive variety of tools. Good price to get started if you're not following the mainstream path of tools.
My lug nuts scoff at brushed motor tools, no peasant shall remove my tires!

Why is everyone on SD so crazy about brushless motors? They do have their advantages, but I think most casual users / homeowners would fail to notice them.
Most Ridgid power tools are rebranded AEGs [aeg-powertools.eu]. They are distributed by the same umbrella megacorp tool company, TTI, as Milwaukee and Ryobi, not necessarily manufactured by them.

Edit: It's actually much more complicated than that with various licensing agreements between the huge corporations that actually own the brand names and manufacturing through lots of different factories in dozens of countries.

And Ryobi. But Ridgid has the best warranty of the three.

More power on reverse, no sparks, longer motor life

I'm aware of the benefits, my point is that most people don't need these things. If 500 ft/lbs of torque is not enough for your use case, then you're probably beyond the casual user / homeowner category, the people for whom the additional expense makes sense.

Most people don't use their brushed motor tools long / hard enough to ever have to replace the brushes (brushes can be replaced people). The batteries fail before that point, or the tools become so old that they end up getting replaced by better / newer ones.

If you make your living with your tools, then sure, brushless motors are probably right up your alley. I suspect must such people are not in the Ridgid ecosystem.

Brushless is a common feature these days. The numerous benefits are not unique to pros, and Ridgid makes plenty of them. I also would not call Ridgid a budget brand; quality is up there.

No sparks or ozone, lighter weight and more compact, longer battery life, lower maintenance...all things a DIYer appreciates.

I have the hi torque, brushless ridgid from a year or two ago I got for around $130 with two batteries and a charger. Needed all 1400 ft-lbs to remove those stubborn rear shocks on my minivan.

If you're not a pro mechanic that uses a brushless tool for lugs multiple times a day (at your job), then don't worry about it - seriously. This is a great deal - esp with Ridgid's LSA coverage. The 4ah battery and charger, alone, have sold for $100 in the past. So, if you don't already have one of these - hard to beat this deal.

Btw - "Tool Only" is selling for $159.

Does that matter if you have a lifetime service agreement? Legitimate question as someone who is looking into this but I'm on the fence.
