Everyday groceries, utilities, any big purchases, auto/home insurance pmt, property tax, car tax, advance income tax.. so many ways.... It is basically work as debit cards.
I may collect dust if you don't spend money anywhere..
These are also very powerful for overcharging.
Too bad there isn't a 5% cash back from Apple Pay from any credit cards right now. It overlapped a few times in the past so you were earning 5% on top of the benefit mentioned.

I have had them rejected at Costco gas. They will work in the Costco store though if you get the visa version and not the mastercard version. They will also work at most other gas stations I have found.
EDIT: Dumb question. Didn't read the OP first. There doesn't seem to be a way to delete my post?
I use them when it's more convenient than cash like at a gas station (except Costco). Some grocery stores nearby me also no longer except cash at their self serve check out lines, so they are useful there. I also use them to buy things online that I know I won't be needing to return.
It might vary by location/cashier. The last time I tried to use the MC version, the cashier told me Costco doesn't accept them and never has. I've only bought the Visa version since then.
