Mold can't grow in under 32°F temperatures but I get what you're saying. They go for about $4 each at Menards so figured I'd share Growing up we always used the foam box ones so don't know how well these work but the reviews were/are good.

that said, anybody looking should get this style instead. a bag with some "cotton", velcro'd around the pipe behind a spigot is a horrible idea.

i assume they meant the rest of the year, while storing in your shed, in a bin... a bag that may or may not have a few drops of water in it, cooking and festering...

this velcro bag is a horrible idea, you're not insulating the pipe when it enters the house in the slightest... people should just get the normal foam insulated covers from Polar Cap, or a similar vendor.

I like to use both these bags AND the normal foam insulated covers at the same time, but it can be tricky to keep the foam cover to stay on the bagged spigot.
