Book Synopsis:
  • In this thrilling sequel to A Game of Thrones, George R. R. Martin has created a work of unsurpassed vision, power, and imagination. A Clash of Kings transports us to a world of revelry and revenge, wizardry and warfare unlike any we have ever experienced.
  • A comet the color of blood and flame cuts across the sky. And from the ancient citadel of Dragonstone to the forbidding shores of Winterfell, chaos reigns. Six factions struggle for control of a divided land and the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms, preparing to stake their claims through tempest, turmoil, and war. It is a tale in which brother plots against brother and the dead rise to walk in the night. Here a princess masquerades as an orphan boy; a knight of the mind prepares a poison for a treacherous sorceress; and wild men descend from the Mountains of the Moon to ravage the countryside. Against a backdrop of incest and fratricide, alchemy and murder, victory may go to the men and women possessed of the coldest steel . . . and the coldest hearts. For when kings clash, the whole land trembles.

Series is unfinished FYI. There's a high chance it will never be completed. It's been 14 years since the last book was released and the author has no ETA for the next 2 novels
This needs to be top comment. Books are not getting finished until he dies and someone else takes over. Sad, but true.

I have two chapters left in a Game of Thrones and was planning on buying Clash of Kings enhanced edition in a couple of days. When my CheapCharts went off for this, I eventually decided to pull the trigger and buy the enhanced editions of the last three books when I get there, as those haven't dipped below $7.99 like these first two have. Great series to read, just as good as the show!

It appears that authors detest completing a series. The same holds true for manga creators; these individuals are driven by an insatiable desire to continue working until their demise, leaving us fans unsatisfied as the story remains unfinished. However, I firmly believe that the root cause of this behavior lies in a single factor: "Money." Once a series concludes, the financial aspect ceases to exist. Consequently, they prefer to prolong the series' existence as long as possible, capitalizing on its popularity.

Just crazy the author hasn't finished the last of the books and refuses to hand it over to someone else. The first book literally came out when I was a freshman in high school! I don't even know how I would have learned this book even existed back then. And I went in Barnes and Noble a lot. Ridiculous.

I may read the next book when (if!) it Ever comes out, but I'm definitely not going to pay for it. George R. R. Martin is never going to get another dime from me. The HBO series ending sucked, but at least it had an ending.

Plenty of mangaka would like to end their series. The problem is the publishers don't want popular series to end and will do anything to prevent popular manga from ending.

He probably doesn't know how to end it. If you want to see how someone else would end the story, you can watch the TV series.
