Small map and early stage is OK-ish. Anything large and later stage was pretty painful. I spent probably 90-95% of my time in the mid-late game just waiting for the turn to complete. I gave up. But I like to play large maps. I now play it on a steam deck and it's night and day difference.

But for $3 it's basically a no-brainer to try and see how it works for you and the way you play Civ.

Wow! Great deal. Anyone know how well it plays on the switch? Ive played V on PC previously but worried text could be too small to read on the switch.

I've wondered this. Does the interface of the game work well on steam deck?

its ok, given the small screen and low res its kinda straining for me to play more than 20-30 mins at a time. Also big maps in the late game is going to struggle a bit.

I've played 1000s of hours of Civ6 across the Switch, PC, and PS5. PC is superior but most of my play has been PS5 for convenience. That said, the switch has very long load times late game and on large maps.

It's garbage. I wouldn't sit and play it if the paid ME $3. It was an excruciating experience.

I just tried this again on my Switch over Christmas break and the constant loading made it pretty unplayable for me. Waiting 10-20 seconds between each action was too much. Will grab it on PC next time it's on sale.

Took me a bit to get used to the steam deck interface but I eventually got it when I loaded some custom controller configs I found on a forum somewhere. It's nowhere near as good as the PC, but it's obviously way more portable. And since I already owned it for the PC it loads as part of your steam account on the steam deck.
