I got one for my wife when this was on sale last time here ,during the year one of the motors broke and messaged phillips and sent out a new one no questions asked
I read somewhere that the cheaper models' batteries changed and they're basically like a toy battery and don't have the same sonic effect. Something along those lines.

On the original 4100... There is a very beefy copper electromagnet vibrating a rare earth magnet on a steel shaft 62000 rpms. All of this tightly kept in an all metal chassis. This drive is frictionless and when it's not, it's adjustable if you know what you're doing. On the new 4100, it's a $0.05 brushed dc toy motor wrapped entirely in cheap plastic. If you were going to give away a sonicare toothbrush in a Happy meal, this is how you would build it.
