I have checking account at Bank on Buffalo, interest is 5.25% up to 100k. Requires one DD or ACH payment and 12 debit purchases. I pay Spectrum 12 small debits each month which works. I opened account last August and they have never lowered the rate. May be worth it for some. https://bankonbuffalo.bank/landing/wow-checking

Penalty if you forget to do those transactions is stiff. Rate drops from 5.25% to .10%.

Correct. "Alexa - set a reminder" I have it set for the 2nd of each month for 3 banks, just like I have recurring reminders for medicine times, taking out trash, etc. I'm retired so no biggie [for me].
I also have Fidelity at 4% with no strings. Fidelity is great if you use ATM's because they will reimburse all fees, without limit. I frequent Las Vegas and ATM's there can be up to $12 fee. I have had every one reimbursed for years - without having to call. Just another decent banking deal that might be useful for some.

I have Fidelity CMA as well. It's a good service. So if each month you transfer $1 from an external bank account to the checking account and make twelve $1 payments on a bill that will cover it?

No it will not. The 12 small debit card payments are fine, but the DD or ACH requirement will NOT be fulfilled by a bank transfer. Setting up a recurring payment each month is very easy. I have $20 to Chase credit card each month.

Sounds like a good deal, maybe post it?
Can't see how it's related to this 14 month CD though. Totally different product.
Is this a bank or fintech or similar thing? It's not listed on fdic website (Goldman is, of course). But if the fintech is belly up, your money just leaves you forever. I am still 3k short from yotta/juno/synapse collapse.

"FDIC-Insured – Backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. Government. Goldman Sachs Bank USA, Salt Lake City Branch."
If anyone is holding off on a CD but wants this kind of rate, lending club savings is at 4.5% as well. Very happy with them so far. you have to put $250 a month to keep the rate.
Can't find if this is callable. Most important attribute.
Callable bank CDs are pretty unusual, and if it was callable, I don't think Goldman would try to hide that.
Callable is more common in brokered CDs.
I'd assume it's not callable, but read everything during the application process to stay safe, or just ask Marcus.
To me, a callable CD doesn't make sense unless it pays extra, and more than a HYSA. They can get out without penalty, but you can't? Yeah, I want the bank to pay me for that clause.

A treasury zero maturing 14 months from now (may 2026) will get you a little under 4%, so it beats that as well.
