This is a deal in the sense that you will never be able to get a plex pass under $200 soon (black friday will probably be $199 this year).

So if you want a plex-pass, you have until April 29th to snag it at regular price.

Upcoming Plex Pass Price Increase
As of April 29, 2025, we are increasing the price of our Plex Pass subscription. While this is pretty common for most subscription services, it's not for us. We've held out for more than 10 years, keeping good company with AriZona Iced Tea (tall-boy legends) and Costco (we love a good deal on a hot dog and soda.) But now, in order for us to keep up with rising costs and remain committed to ensuring both Plex Pass and our support for personal media continue to thrive—it's time.
The price increase applies to new and existing subscriptions, with the exception of existing Lifetime Plex Pass holders. The good news is that you can still purchase a Lifetime Plex Pass subscription at the current price of $119.99 USD* before the increase goes into effect on April 29, 2025.
New USD prices as of April 29, 2025 will be:
 Monthly: $6.99
 Yearly: $69.99
 Lifetime: $249.99

If you'd like to lock in a Lifetime Plex Pass subscription at the current rate of $119.99 USD*, you have until April 29, 2025 to do so. Prices for existing monthly and yearly subscriptions will automatically increase with the next renewal after April 29, 2025.

Wow I remember paying like $79 for the lifetime a few years back. It's been a blast using Plex. Well worth it.

Apparently Plex has been hit by inflation a bit worse than the rest of the country since they feel the need to double their price. No price increase over at Jellyfin. Common Jellyfin W.

I've waited for a big price drop only because I didn't see the real benefit of having it but now I suppose I'll never get it. That's the biggest single price jump I've seen.

Also know, plex is will be changing its policy and will only allow remote streaming outside your network IF you are a subscriber. So, if you have family that watch an occasional show... they won't be able to access plex soon.

Just get yourself a Jellyfin and stop supporting predatory practice of companies that hide useful featured behind paywall while raising the prices. I've been using Jellyfin for my movie and TV show collection for the past 8 months and the support is absolutely top notch. My N100 NAS device transcodes any codec with hardly any sweating.

Jelly has its pro and cons. It's fit and finish is not as good. I run both, jelly being my backup.

Well that's a bummer. I've been hosting a plex server for over 12 years now so a couple of friends can watch my content but i don't really have a need for the additional plex pass features.

Apparently they're also offering another option "Beginning April 29, 2025, Remote Watch Pass will be available for an introductory price of $1.99/month or $19.99/year"

Remote playback with a Remote Watch Pass subscription (New!)
Our brand-new subscription offering, Remote Watch Pass, allows individual users to remotely stream media from any personal media server to which they have access. This is a great option for users who don't run their own server and are looking to stream from a server belonging to a friend or family member who does not have a Plex Pass. It's also a good alternative for server owners who may not need the full feature offering of a Plex Pass, but are looking for a more cost-effective option to access their media remotely. Beginning April 29, 2025, Remote Watch Pass will be available for an introductory price of $1.99/month or $19.99/year.

Same, when the "sale" went from $79 to $99, I told myself I'd bite when it drops back down to $79. It never did, so I'm just like "Oh, well. Moving on."

I tried jellyfin before and didn't like it. Plex does so much more.

This is the only bummer to me. I bought the iphone app for our phones so we can remotely stream. Not a fan of paying for something to have it revoked at a later date.
