If you are spending $100+ and dont mind the silicon ear tips then the Pro 2 are the way to go - superior in every metric and only $80 more at Costco (But really only $50 more since the $30 is for AppleCare+ which most get anyways).
Only $80?

That's about what they are worth - probably closer to $80.Airpods Pro 2 blow these and the Airpods 4 with ANC out of the waterForget about noise cancelling, even with it completely turned off, the max volume is 2-3x greater with the Pros than the Airpods. If you are spending $100+ and dont mind the silicon ear tips then the Pro 2 are the way to go - superior in every metric and only $80 more at Costco (But really only $50 more since the $30 is for AppleCare+ which most get anyways).
I recognize on paper the pro 2s are superior and the ANC is probably dramatically better -- it's probably always going to be that way due to the style differences and, well, you know, how sound waves actually work.
Regardless, for many people (I am one of those) the fit of in-ear (silicone/foam tipped) buds or the shape just don't work. In my personal case, the in-ear type earbuds are not comfortable at all and they continuously work their way out of my ears even when just sitting at my desk or moving around the house.
The original AirPods fit me great, the AirPods 3 were a bit worse in my case but the AirPods 4 design hit the middle ground between the original AirPods and the 3s.
The specs don't mean anything if they don't stay in your ears or if they hurt to wear.

I agree with what you are saying, read my original comment

I said, "if you are spending 100+ and DONT MIND THE SILICON EAR TIPS then the Pro 2 are the way to go"

For the majority of people, ANC doesnt matter. I am talking pure sound quality (reviewed by audiophile websites not tech sites) and volume.

Pros 2 are far louder even at 50% volume whereas the Airpods 4 you have to crank the volume and that diminishes the sound quality.

Sorry the Pros 2 didnt work out for you but for most people spending $50 on a superior headphone is the true Slickdeal

For those who like the fit of the standard airpods 2 how do these compare? I bought them 6 months ago so I assume not worth upgrading but these may be good for a work pair.

I got the pros a while ago and they fall out regardless of the tip I choose.

Personally not a fan of the Pro's at all, and the ANC makes me feel like I'm stuffed up. Like I have a bad cold. So the regular 3's and 4's are amazing!

Airpods 4 in this deal - $100
Airpods 4 in this deal + AppleCare+ - $130

Airpods Pro 2 at Costco WITH AppleCare - $180

You are paying $50 more for the Airpods and $30 for AppleCare+ which is idiotic not to get when they replace buds for you for diminished battery life (it's in the warranty terms and has been confirmed by myself and others - call Apple, tell them your Airpods are not holding a charge, get two new buds sent for the cost of your warranty $30.

So unless you are NOT buying AppleCare+, which would be dumb for such a fragile tiny product, you are paying $50 more for a FAR superior product.

Even if you were paying $80 more and you only used the Airpods Pro 2 for two years - wouldnt $40 a year for a vastly better product and user experience be 100% worth it?

Huge difference between being intelligently frugal and stupidly cheap

Make the smart purchase not the cheaper purchase.

These are disposable items like food - ill spend $80 over two years for two better meals, wouldnt you? Then spending $50 MORE for a product you will be using for 100s of hours is chump change.

I even broke down how it's $50 more in my original comment and you chose to cherry pick one line - stop trolling, if you cant afford $50 more on a pair of headphones then it's not financially responsible for you to be buying $100 headphones in the first place. Put that towards your mortgage or cell phone bill

Was considering getting a pair of Airpods to replace my Jabra elites from 2018 before reading this post. Disposable? Yall know other brands of ear buds in the same price range can last like 5-10 years right?

That's what I wondered abt too. My anchor buds are running 5 yrs and still going. Paid like $15 for them and still holds charge for 3 hrs.

It's insane that people are calling $100+ product disposable. No wonder our planet is in shit with all the trash

Airpods 2 fit me well, a little loose but never worried about them falling out. Airpods 4 I have to use ear gel skins to keep them from falling out.

I've tried all the AirPods. I'm not a fan of the silicone tips. But all my regular versions 1/2/3 have been great! Last for years. Only upgrade out of curiosity, and then keep the old ones in the family. They aren't disposable and they last a while! I've never had issues. I'd ignore the guy above! I even washed the first version in the washer machine and they still worked.

Actually if a Slickdealer did it correct, it was $69.99+tax using price match chat to Amazon at $99, stacking the 15% off target circle for one online purchase, stacking $10 or $15 off $50 purchase, stacking 5% red card.

This was without ANC.

delivered last week at $72.49 including tax..............

My AirPods keep experiencing these weird behaviors where certain sound or vibration like a lawn mower or my chewing would stop media playback. I can't use them while I'm eating. Do these new ones have the same issues?
