I have both. Straight is for getting down deep, when the ground is hard. D is for moving a lot of loose earth. The leverage on each is what makes it good for that use.

Best shovel that I ever owned when you need real strength that would break other shovels. It is overkill for light duty work because it is all steel.

I bought this last time. I love the shovel. I've only used it three times so far. It has a wide plate you can put your foot on. That's a game changer. and design seems sturdy and last decades.

I was hoping the deal was for the flat moving dirt version
