I don't mind using my old chargers since they keep the temp lower on the device while charging during the night.
also battery will last longer when less heat generated

Most phones and tablets should use at least 30W+ for fast charging. I'd go even higher to future proof yourself unless you like rebuying chargers every year.

Agreed. I plug into an old charger at night and in the morning its charged (even if it took all night).

Another issue is that fast charging tends to shorten battery life. It can also lead to over charging so if you have the time, charge slowly and disconnect when charged or almost fully charged. Leaving it on charger after charging can also shorten life.

That's still fine for overnight charging and smaller devices, no? In my opinion, these chargers seem perfectly usable.

Limit your max battery charge to 80% and an USB cable that can't handle much power for overnight, but a different cable if you need more power for a faster charge.

  • 15 W still charges most devices relatively quickly, unless you are using something with an unusually large battery.
  • A pair of chargers like in this deal are an inexpensive way to provide a pair extra chargers to leave around the house. Or to bring on family vacations. Charging speed is often a second priority compared to simply having enough convenient charging spots.
  • Even 5 W chargers have their place. I wouldn't pay for them. But I keep spares around to power random things like LED lights or a cheap headset.
  • Devices tend to use use less wattage for charging as the battery fills up. That means a phone that can use a 30 W charger will only use the full 30 W during the beginning. The average wattage charging a device from 0% to 100% would be much lower than 30 W.
  • You talked about future-proofing, but failed to mention anything about the various levels of PD and PPS. PPS especially allows newer phones to gradually adjust their voltage and amperage throughout the charging process and maximize charging speeds. So while a laptop might need a 65 W charger, many phones will charge faster on a 20-30 W charger with PPS than a 65 W PD 2.0 charger.
My details above aren't about being hard facts, but generalizations to consider. The real lessons are that there a multitude of use cases USB charges, the needs vary a lot, and there are other details to consider other than just the total potential wattage.

This is a far slicker deal. Get the 3 port 72W charger. 1-$15, 2-$24, or 3-$32. Also, modern phones like the S25 Ultra need 45W for optimal charging. https://slickdeals.net/f/18217864-otterbox-20w-fast-charging-usb-c-wall-charger-bulk-packaging-5-99-more-free-shipping-w-amazon-prime

Don't alot of devices sort of already do this on their own? My phone charges at 30 watts when the battery is below a certain threshold then starts to drop down wattage as the battery fills. It doesn't spend very long charging at max rate and doesn't get very hot.
