1.5 amp is for smallish batteries or ones you don't mind taking a week to charge. Note that this does not include the lithium mode that you need for some premium motorcycle batteries.

1.5 amps is more of a battery maintainer than a charger. And for a maintainer this is not slick.

I think this is ok for a regular charger, but you're right, this is not the kind of charger you quickly plug in because your car isn't starting and you have to go to work.

If you have a riding mower, ATV, boat, or anything else that may sit for a month or two without being used this thing will pay for itself within a couple years. I had one of these on my last riding mower and the battery was still kicking after 7 years when I sold the mower. I've had it on my current mower for 2 years and the battery is still going strong. Previously I'd have to replace these small batteries about every 2 years.
I'm picking up a couple more at this price, thanks OP!

I have one on my riding mower. I plug it in whenever it's not in use, and I've had batteries that last 7+ years but without using this, they only lasted a couple of years. It works great to keep a battery topped off, which helps to extend the life.

If I have a spare car battery sitting in the garage not connected to anything. Do I need something like this? Or the battery will be good

A typical lead acid car battery is shipped fully charged to a retail store and has a shelf life charge (80%) of 6+ months. So if you are charging it once in a while that should be adequate.

Note , this is 1.5amps . So if you are charging a 50ah battery, it will take 33.3 hours to charge from 0% to full.

Not a bad product, but just to keep this in mind if you want to charge a big battery quick. (like a fishing trolling battery).

I've got four of these on vehicles and they work great! Keeps batteries fully charged and never a problem started after sitting awhile.

I'm looking for a charger for a battery that will operate small marine electronics. I assume this should work fine for that use?
