I've had great success with my Dial dispensers and thin gel-type refills from Sam's Club, Amazon Basics, and SoftSoap at a 2.5 to 1 ratio of water to soap. I've read online of most ratios sitting at 3 to 1 or higher (i.e. - thinner/more water). Part of the reason I go with such a rich ratio is to avoid any spoiling risked by a thinner solution, though the other reason is reinforced every time I go to my mother in law's home and get a handful of overly-thinned foam from her own dispenser. Of course, the other reason I go with this ratio comes down to how easily it works with the dispenser and a 2/3 measuring cup. I add 2/3 of distilled water to an empty container and add soap until the water reaches the fill line of the bottle (at 7.5 oz).
