$1000 cash back less:
- $95 annual fee
- $50-100 opportunity cost for spending $5000 on a card that only gives 1%cb when you could have gotten 2-3%cb.
Still over $800 tax-free profit. Not bad at all.
Considering it. I have one more application before I hit chase 5/24, then wait for a boosted amex gold or platinum bonus.
Any 0% apr period on this?
Will they treat a tax payment at pay1040 as a cash advance? Most credit card vendors treat it as a purchase.
The offer is supposed to be available online starting 04/03.
Nope- you can only have 1 sapphire (of any type) open at once, and can't get a sapphire bonus at all if you received one in the last 48 months.
Current referral links are still only offering 60k--- rumors on reddit that 100k referrals for individuals will be live next week (8th was what I read)

I signed up but no mention of 100k anyone know how to check?
Same I signed up yesterday and did not see any such message as well when I was on the submission page. But today when I go in chase app I can see a tracker under travel and benefits which shows tracker for $5000 spent to meet the 100000 points offer. Also confirmed via secure messaging that the offer is on my card. So log in to your chase app and see.
I downgraded my CSR last evening and it showed the change in less than 30 mins in online banking. I even got notified of my card being downgraded by door dash and they cancelled my dash pass. I'm guessing I'm safe to apply for the CSP in the morning?
Has anyone used the chase travel portal? Where is it and how do we use it? Some direction and guide please.
Note you can get much better value transferring the points to airline or hotel partners... for example transfers to Hyatt typically yield 2-2.5 cents a point in cash equivalent value.
For airline transfers if you're doing premium bookings (ie business or first) you can often get 4-6 cents a point or more... (coach is more variable but many flights you can still get in the 2-2.5 cent range via transfers rather than the 1.25-1.5 in the portal).
Note the airline transfer thing will require a little bit of research on your part to max value, and a bit more flexibility in your schedule- so the value for coach fares might be YMMV, but it's pretty massive for business class (and it's easily better, with little to no extra work or schedule concerns, for Hyatt)

Interesting, so if I plan on redeeming points for travel within 1 year then this Preferred offer seems to be the better deal, right?
Preferred = 100 K points at 25% bonus = $1250 of travel credit
Sapphire = 60K at 50% bonus = $900 of travel credit
There's obviously other differences in the cards, but for the sake of argument let's say the $300 extra in annual fees on the Sapphire evens those out
See above- redeeming via the portal is usually the worst value compared to transfers.

Can I use a referral code for this offer?
While there's no official 100k referral today-- but in theory you can use a lower referral then after approval PM Chase to ask them to match the 100k offer-- Chase generally matches higher offers within 30 days and there's many reports of them already doing this in this 100k case-- but if you don't want to risk it wait till the 8th and see if the rumors about a "real" 100k referral going live then are true.

I would also like to know if we can refer someone for the preferred because I currently have the reserve. Thanks!
Yes, both reserve and preferred holders can generate referral links that let the recipient apply for either card.

Is the 48 months from the closing date of the old Sapphire card?
No- it's 48 months from when you received your last Sapphire sign up bonus
Can I downgrade to Preferred, transfer my existing points and get the Sign on Bonus?
Thanks.
No you need to downgrade to a freedom card and wait a week. Although someone here said they only waited 36 hours. then sign up, you can't downgrade to get a bonus. The bonus is given with a new signup when you don't have a CSR or CSP card. Also it has to be 48 months since the last time you received a Chase sapphire sign up bonus.

What happens to the existing points when you transfer out? I've been out of the Chase UR game for a bit. Doesn't the CSR have better transfer rates? 50% vs 25% or something?
