I have the 2022 model 55 inch Toshiba m550 and I can confirm that it is a VA panel. Picture is a beaute! Sound is amazing...I think the 2025 model sound will be adequate but not the same as older version. I cannot say that the quality of the newer 2025 model is any better. Hopefully the 2025 has just as good deeper blacks as the previous 2022 model. The bezel-less design was a plus. 2022 model is great for gaming! Maybe wait for some more current reviews and buy later this year. Here are a couple of recommended reviews: https://youtu.be/OrufPyypxQc?si=-goTaa5rfmavkYVs

It's not gonna get that much better than this at this price point. Basically a wait until Black Friday otherwise I would get this.

Sure you're not looking at the C350?

https://www.toshibatv-usa.com/tvs...rt-fire-tv

550 should be 120

Screen resolution 3840 x 2160p
Local dimming Yes
4K upscaling Yes
Backlight type Full Array Direct Lit
Refresh rate 120 Hz

Your link is to 65M550KU. This post is for 65M550NU, which Best Buy's "Show Full Specs" says is 60 Hz.

Thanks, ordered this TV. I was debating between this and the TCL Q681 series tv that has same full array local dimming, but the picture quality feedback from people who own the TCL Q6 is just ok, I'm hoping this toshiba TV has better picture quality, all reviews of M550 series so far is impressive. I also like that this tv has 4k upscaling which is missing in TCL Q6 series.

I was worried about Hisense manufacturing Toshiba TV's since 2017, but glad to hear that their Quality Control department is separate from Hisense, so fingers crossed and hoping for top notch quality from this Japanese TV manufacturer.

Every modern 4K TV has some form of upscaling.

Probably Hisense, since they own Toshiba's TV division. Even the back panel looks similar to most Hisense TVs, so it's likely assembled in the same factory.

Always use the ratings website to evaluate TVs, so when they don't review one I'm kind of lost.

I'm in the market for a TV to place in an outdoor covered Cabana. It would have to get somewhat bright to handle glare and what not outside. Anybody know anything about this TV and whether it would be a good fit?
Rtings is a good basic reference point but they have a rather subjective rating system.
eg...
Years ago, when I was in the electronic business. They gave a Sony TV a rather mediocre rating even though it had an excellent picture quality and a high contrast ratio (inky blacks)
They took point off because of the TV's input lag, motion blur and response time, (important to gamers but meaningless to most people) it did not make a good computer monitor, it had high reflection (The screen was glossy which gave it a very good picture quality) limited viewing angles and it was not 4K. It was 2015...4K was rare and 99 % of videos were 1080p or lower.

I was just puzzled by that as well. I will trust what they have listed instead of the OP.

Is there any information available about this tv as a non gaming computer monitor? Does it display text properly?

Based on prior posts on SD and Reddit:
This is closely related to a Hisense U6G/U7G series' (VA panel), with a native 120Hz refresh rate (Motion Rate 480). Although there is no support for HDMI 2.1 bandwidth (4K@120Hz) due to hardware limitations.

I got this information from a SD post for the 75" version here:

I stopped by Sams yesterday to look at the Philips 65 OLED vs something QLED next to each other. The QLED seemed more crisp... it was showing more nature shots, while Philips had a lot of yellow/orange things.. Isn't it supposed to be that OLED is much superior?

It's funny you say that as I had a similiar experience yesterday. I was in Best Buy looking at the Samsung S90D (OLED) and the Samsung QN90D (QLED). They were side by side playing the same loop and the QLED was brighter and just seemed to pop more.

OP has 60Hz. Slickdeals changed it to 120Hz when they edited for FP.

I have an older model Toshiba fire tv and it turns off no activity. Even when I pause a show or movie, it will turn off. Anyone know if this tv does the same and/or how to stop this from happening? Thanks for any help.

QLEDs are brighter than OLED, so in bright environments like stores, the QLED will look less dull and crisper. But in your typical home environment where it's not nearly as bright, OLEDs will perform better than QLEDs because they have higher contrast ratios and better black levels.

Great! You're welcome...I am tempted to buy this 2025 Toshiba m550 but have no other place to put the tv. Lol... if the quality is same or better than the 2022 model I may pull the trigger for the 65 incher in the near future. Enjoy!

Woot has the 65" FireTV Omni QLED REFURBISHED for $499. As far as I can tell, the only advantage is a single HDMI 2.1 port over this Toshiba. This Toshiba seems like a solid deal.

Have you transport your TV on the car and you lay it flat down instead of vertical?
