Maybe I'm the only one who didn't know how to care for an Aluminum Moka pot - running this through a dishwasher cycle ruined this. Left black stains all over the surface which is difficult to get rid of, and I had to discard it.

Got a stainless steel Moka Pot which is much easier to work with.

Aluminum cools quickly, so you can make a second cup if you run this under cold water for a few seconds.

Does the stainless steel rust?

Thanks for the warning. I am going stainless steel. I just saw picture and thought it was legit, like a cheaper Bialetti and the same material type.

I purchased this about 2 years ago. I have zero complaints. I believe in the instructions it said not to machine wash. This with some Lavazza espresso is a nice drink

Does anyone have the larger stainless steel versions? I have one and it looks like the bottom water pot is coated with something on the inside. Totally defeats the purpose of buying stainless steel.

Moka pots don't really satisfy any of the parameters required to market a product as an espresso maker in Italy. The pressurized water in the bottom chamber doesn't get anywhere near 9 bars. I mean I like the concentrated coffee beverage produced by my Imusa moka pot as much as the next guy, but why can't we just be honest and call it a moka pot.

Bought this 4 years ago. The lid handle broke within a few months. Was too stupid to try and contact the manufacturer. Otherwise it's worked perfectly with light use (2x a month).

For those wondering, you won't get "3 cups" of coffee from this. You may get a half filled cup.

Moka pots make great coffee if you know how to use them and put in a good product. I use a diffusion plate for a gas stove which helps quite a bit. I also put in an aeropress filter which makes for a cleaner cup. Then I stop the brewing process by running cool water over the unit when the flow starts to get turbulent and clear.

The result is very rich, thick and creamy coffee. But it isn't espresso.

If you're wondering, James Hoffman has a three (I think?) part series in the Moka Pot

If you are going to buy this make sure you thoroughly dry this or it will stain the aluminum
