Sams seems to have updated their processes. I have been unable to sign up as new member using the T-Mobile offer for $20. Sams keeps saying an account with this information already exists. I have tried everything. Even different cards.

I think Sams is tracking the cards and while we never did sign up using our BoA card, we have used it and it was in my wife's account and now that is my hunch as to why I cannot sign up as me. I used to switch between the wife and I every year for the last 3 or 4 years. I cannot sign up any more.

We deleted the old accounts deligiently and yet, Sams knows we're not "new members" even though their own policy dictates that a New Member is someone who has not been a member for the past 6 months.

If you have any outstanding online accounts, remove or change the phone number or contact CS and have them delete the online account. Then you should be able to sign up if you use a different phone number and email. If you have CS delete the account, you should be able to sign up using same information but I use different just to play it safe.

ALL our old online accounts are and were deleted already.

Just got it to work with the T-Mobile offer but had to use an email address never used with Sams before and a virtual credit card number for the primary account holder. Adding a period in my gmail address did not work for me. I still had access to accounts I used in 2023 and 2024 and had already changed my street address, phone number, and deleted all payment info. Not sure if the complementary card holder email is considered in detirmining if you've had an account before so I changed that as well but used a phone number they already had and it went through. Like many have reported, I used to just alternate email and phone numbers each year.

Last time I used an offer like this I called and customer service helped me out. I think they suggest putting an incorrect phone number in and fixing it later.

So how does this work? Do you have to go into the store to get a physical card or can you just use the app with a virtual membership card?

It is not the name or address that is flagging it, it is the PHONE NUMBER.

Same thing happened to me, the way around this is to sign up for a burner/free number using TextNow or TextFree, register using that newly generated cell number, once you complete signup and the account is activated, go back into your sams account and change the phone number to your real number and you will be good, had to do this twice in the last two years and worked both times, even had a rep from Sams Club say during online chat that that is the only way around it

Thank you. I will try this. That said, I have access to 3 different Google Voice numbers and I did try using one which I had never used with Sams without luck. We do not give anyone our personal Cell phone number(s).

Just tried this. No luck. I even used the Jenny phone number. It still knows me.

I had a customer service rep tell me that it was both the email address AND the phone number of the spouse that was ASSOCIATED to the main account.
So, it's important that if you are going to try to alternate between yours and your spouse's account every other year NOT to associate the spouse's name, email and phone number to the current account.
So, if you haven't had your account for over 6 months you still have to be sure you haven't been associated to the current account or they see that and will deny the account purchase.
The customer service rep told me to use a different email AND phone number and try again. I haven't tried yet but will when I have time to deal with it.
