At this price point don't consider any other controller, I have the v1 and v2 kishi as well as scufs wireless kishi style controller and the ultra is the only option comparable to a oem Dualsense or Series controller.

gamesir g8? 8bitdo ultimate mobile?

the real best way to get a native controller feel is with the 8bitdo mobile clip ($10 on aliexpress)

I'll bite at this price. I have a backbone one usb-c for my iPhone 16.. I have to take the case off to use.. and it's a little bit small for prolonged use.

Being able to game on (moonlight or steam link), PPSSPP, retro, and all the standard mobile games on my iPad mini would be fun. Also says can be used as a standalone controller on a PC. That'd be handy in emergency gaming situations 😅😅😅😅😅

Having used the abxylute s9 controller:
  1. None of these expanding controllers will fit a phone with a PopSocket grip on the back. The grip pushes the phone up on the backbone, making it impossible to lay flat and remain secured in place by the controller grips.
  2. None of these will handle rugged cases like the Otterboxes. (Not the cheaper Otters, their thickest and most rugged drop proof cases.)
  3. The issue is the usb connector on these expanding controllers. They reach out only so far, and once the edge of the case is too thick, the connector can't reach far enough into the phone usb port to connect. Only workarounds are remove case or shave down the case.
Now, the major benefit I can see with the Razer vs cheaper competitors like the Abxylute S9?
The better virtual mapping feature of the Razer Nexus app - play touchscreen-only games with the controller. S9 mapping feature isn't fully complete, so while major games tooted by the company work, can't map some touchscreen games right just yet.
Now. With controller-based games and emulators, doesn't matter. Kishi, S9, etc all work.
E.g. I press the jump button for a short, medium, or long press on any of these and Sonic will jump accordingly in a Genesis emulator. Or, I tilt the controller without using the buttons or stick, and PPSSPP properly setup will steer my ship in Wipeout.
It'll come down more too how the layout and grips feel, the size and sensitivity of thr sticks that'll really rank one over another in Your hands. So expect to buy, test, and maybe return a few.
Eg. For me, Kishi grips are too stubby in the palms, so I prefer the longer S9 grips.
