The small one is super useful. Not hard to move around, fold, unfold, extend. I use it all the time as a medium sized step ladder and as a short extension ladder.
The large one is over 40 pounds and is difficult to use as either a tall step ladder or an extension ladder. It's also super wide at the ends, which further complicates use as an extension ladder. These are, for some reason, typically cheaper than a good extension ladder, and being able to also use it as a tallish step ladder is obviously appealing.
The economics of these ladders is really frustrating.
Buying a good extension ladder plus a good step ladder will easily cost 3-4 times as much as buying one of these multi-position ladders. Having owned a 43 pound multi ladder, I would recommend spending the 3-4X unless you simply do not have the space for two ladders.
