Why a UPS? Does the charging not start again after the power is restored? Sorry for my ignorance as I'm just starting to get into power tools.

For those interested, these are the old battery tech. Not bad, just not the latest. Slightly lower output, and have to charge more often.

Great for off brand tools that may possibly kill a more expensive battery. I try not to buy off brand batteries because of all the lithium battery fires while charging.

3AH is 3AH. The only reason they might have to charge sooner than the stacked or tabless batteries is voltage drop from high-drain tools. Those same tools will usually drain a higher current stacked or tabless battery faster but hitting harder and doing more work in less time, so ultimately they're more likely to need to charge sooner.

A 1.7AH PowerStack will not typically outlast this 3AH battery despite being the newer kind. The 1.7AH PowerStack might punch above its weight and do similar work in a smaller package but the 3AH is still going to outlast it.

Yeah, and a AA battery is a AA battery. Makes no sense why I can get them free at Harbor Freight while some are nutz expensive. I mean, who pays for AA batteries any more when they are free with coupon at Harbor Freight?!?!
3AH is a measure of capacity. Not every AA battery has the same capacity and not every stacked lithium or tabless pack has 3AH or more. Indeed, the first PowerStack was only 1.7AH and will need to be recharged almost twice as fast as this 3AH. In the mean time the PowerStack has other benefits like being smaller and potentially performing better (higher current for comparable capacity), but better performance will technically drain it even faster. With higher current you are getting the same work done faster so that "faster drain" is not wasted and is definitely a good thing.

I'm just saying that it's not technically correct to say the traditional 2P 18650 battery packs like these have to charge more often than a comparable-capacity tabless/stacked pack in any sense. Also, using two 1.5AH rows in parallel like these do gives them decent amperage.
