So after the band rusts in place, do you put a non-UV resistant plastic lid on it, or what???

Hang it with a string lightly brushed with olive oil.

Stick a Terro outdoor ant bait around the area. Mine is against the house, right under 2 hummingbird feeders. It's done great for me to keep the ants away for the past 4 years. You're supposed to replace them every 3 months, but if you have a large colony in the area like I did, you're going to have to replace it sooner.

That's the first thing I thought. I would have to fill it back up every day?

I have one of these and it's good for 1-3 birds. If you get more than that, you'll want a bigger feeder.

Pros:
Comes with 8 flowers so you can swap them out
Whole thing can be thrown in the dishwasher.
Cons:
Mine doesn't sit level so one flower will drip
Flower tubes can be hard to clean
The openings for the flowers are drilled, not formed into the glass. They can have sharp edges

What kind of evil maniac gives a hummingbird a feeder without a landing pad/stick? So they have to hover there the whole time they're eating? Let the poor guys rest for 20 seconds!

Depends on the hummer. At my previous house in a different state about half of them would land and drink and the other half would always hover. After I moved, the hummers at my new house never land. Not once have I ever caught one resting and drinking despite having landers. Not to mention they don't have landing pads on flowers in the wild so it's not like you're torturing them for free food.

Not all flowers have a landing spot, and the birds just flap their little wings and do their thing. This seems like it'd work fine.

I have a couple of these. I replaced a full size feeder with them. I don't have as many hummingbirds as I used to, so a lot of the old nectar would go to waste. With these, it's easy to take down and clean often without wasting nearly as much nectar.
