Cotton is more comfortable when dry, but it absorbs a lot more water, which makes it much heavier when wet. It also does not air dry quickly, which is the point of a swim shirt.

I've lived in a hot climate for most of my life. I walk my dogs daily and play tennis and have found that I prefer something that absorbs the sweat rather than allows it to run down my body, which I find distracting. Plus I find that polyester, when wet, can cling even more than cotton.

Sure, prefer what you want for walks and tennis, but this is a swim shirt. This is literally meant to be submerged in water. A cotton shirt will weigh a ton when you get out and take forever to dry.

Board and swim shorts are also polyester for the same reason.

Good point. I didn't notice it said swim tee. I guess I've never seen a swimming shirt before. When you mentioned water before, I thought you were talking about sweat.
