No, it's not.
There are better solutions for your lawn but may not be as simple as grabbing these from Lowe's / HD which is why I use these with success from time to time. I just screen out all debris before using.
if you want to put in pots you should mix with 1/3 peat moss, and then it'll be just as good as the much more expensive potting soil

Can I put potting soil for lawn?
Can you explain more? I'm a new homeowner and have some bald spots in my yard where grass hasn't grown because of trees blocking the sun. I got the trees cut but no grass. Got a $700 estimate for getting some sod installed but I don't need it to be perfect
If you like trash like glass shards, plastic, rubber, sticks and stones with a splash of soil in your yard, yes. But the grass may not even like the soil part
Another post exaggerating the contents. It's the same as the ones complaining about Chipotle's portions.
