Is this the new trend on all new laptop on newer gen chip?
All 32GB system cost twice as much.
Yes because the ram works as vram in new models and has stellar iGPU performance that any sodiumm can't supply. There are greedy motivations for money (integration and market separation) but this trend is not entirely driven by it. In fact I would prefer these non upgradable memory in light laptops since it offer GREAT performance (e.g. over 4000 time spy on a iGPU!)

On package memory reduces power consumption slightly which matters for machines that aim for all-day battery life People have tested Lunar Lake systems and actually hit 20 hours battery life in some cases, though not this particular machine.

Correct. I charge mine to 80% and get about 16 hours (Dell XPS 13 Lunar Lake). Highly recommend the lunar lake. Got mine open box for $580. If you stack this with Amex to get it for $599 brand new, that's an amazing deal.
Lunar lake is honestly what I was looking for in a laptop for years. Battery life is stellar, it's quick, snappy, and best of all, able to game on it pretty decently too!

If you are not locked into getting a Dell, you can sometimes find the Vivo book from Asus, which comes with a 258V instead of this 256V package. The 258V is the exact same processor, exact same IGPU, but comes with 32GB ram.
I got the VIVOBOOK with the 258Vfor $799 a few months ago. Was really good, but then I ended up returning it an getting the Dell XPS with the 256v for $580
I'm trying to decide between this one or this other one that was posted a couple weeks ago. Any opinions or have a different recommendation for under $800?
