I'm in for my 3rd one of these controllers. I'm liking that d-pad for retro and fighting games a ton.

These are really good in terms of feel and latency, but if you don't like Sega-style face buttons these won't be any different in that regard. Their firmware-upgrading and mode-switching is still super janky and their official documentation is almost non-existent. Mine won't work wirelessly anymore, but I still use the heck out of it wired.

It is in my opinion, the best D pad
And having 6 face buttons is amazing for fighting games, as it was intended when made for the Sega Saturn when 2d fighting was in its prime
I cannot believe we lost D pad technology after the Sega Saturn, like...how hard is it really?

Not hard, unless you want fatter profit margins

This one won't work for the Saturn. They have a different model that plugs into a Saturn. This one is only UBS (Switch, Genesis Mini)

How is this for general 2d games (platformers, metroidvanias, etc.) on PC? Is the Dpad comfortable?

I have one already and it is pretty great. I wish it were a little bigger. Does anyone have experience with the Retro Bit Saturn pads? (Wired, Wireless, or Pro) and if so how do they compare to this?

Hoping we see these types of markdowns on the BT models. I have two of the black BT but would like two more of the white.

I actually own the black version. Seeing that this version is only $17, it's tempting enough to make me pull the trigger...
