I know this was $100 cheaper at Costco recently but if you don't have a Costco membership and don't want refurb, this is a decent option IMO. This is dual hose (hose in hose.) $480 FS @Amazon

That's $130 cheaper not $30.

This unit is my first experience with a portable AC. What was surprising to me is that it recirculates a LOT of moisture back into the room. I expected some moisture to be ejected out through the hose but this doesn't seem to happen at all. Effectively, this makes the air output more humid in RH terms (85%+) but really it's just cooler air with the same level of moisture, so it is a much higher RH. So you think, hey, it's got a dry mode and a hose so I'll try that. This should pull the moisture out of the air, right? You have to remove the upper cap and plug and run the hose into a bucket or drain, which is already annoying. Do you have a drain near the window this thing is literally attached to? Probably not. The unit also isn't capable of dehumidifying without significant cooling but this should be obvious from the purpose of the unit (A/C not dedicated dehumidifier). But then, rather bizarrely, the machine won't drain on a flat surface. You need a bucket next to the machine, but you also have to find a way to tilt the unit back to get it to drain. This design choice is very bad and very odd. Mine is now propped up and tilted backwards, with an ugly bucket next to it.
TLDR: the unit has to use a hose and bucket, and be tilted back to do any dehumidification.

This is an absurd comment. A couple of days ago is literally around 06/15 this year. Btw I'm not denying the inflation but it definitely doesn't fit into the context

look up mold problems before buying. I have had 3 units and they all eventually developed mold even with good habits.

I've heard about Midea mold recall for their mini-splits. Can you please confirm whether your units are the mini-splits or the Duo 12K BTU portable a/c? Also can you share the good habits (run fan-only mode, avoid the Dry mode, etc.)? Thank you!

Yeah that's fair. For whatever reason I remembered the Costco deal being $450 vs $350, hence the post.

Also just FYI— Midea was quick with the fix for their U-shaped AC units. COSTCO is carrying the 12,000 BTU versions again for $370 in-store. Just saw them tonight.

I don't know if this is accurate but per Reddit it's the same unit,.they've just included the recall kit in the packaging which includes the new stoppers.that allow the water to slowly drain vs pool in the unit.
