I'm sure it's been mentioned and buried but extended warranty benefit goes away next month which sucks
Uhh yeah I have an Amex, this is not true lol
I'm sure citi fought hard in the bidding process to beat Amex to get the Costco account. Part of the terms were probably to offer better benefits for the customer....

Ah, gotcha. The card (AmEx or Citi) is free if you have at least an Executive membership to Costco. It may be free with Gold Star membership too, but I don't know because I don't have GS.

i have the cheapest membership. amex is "free" for me. i'm sure it'll be the same deal with citi.
Technically, you could always pay with Visa, if your debit cards were Visa-backed. Credit cards though you'll be able to pay with starting June 20th.
I doubt amex will remain free by itself after costco drops it. Should i cancel immediately or are we covered for the rest of the year? I'd like to keep amex just in case for some "benefits" but never paying fees for credit cards.

Which AmEx? The co-branded one with Costco will cease to exist; it will be transitioned to a Citi card. You're going to get a new card in the mail that's going to be a Citi branded Visa.
I have 2 Amex cards (one being the Costco one) with a combined credit limit of $30k that I am able allocate between the 2 at my discretion. I currently have my credit about equally distributed between the 2 even though I rarely use the other one, as it's a Delta card and I have stopped traveling with my job. My question is whether I should reallocate my card before the switch. One other thing to note that may or may not be relevant is that the the Delta is one of my oldest cards so am reluctant to close. Thanks in advance.
these benefits are not groundbreaking. and it doesnt trump any cards out of my current setup after a lot of research: Sallie Mae for 5% on gas, groceries, and amazon. us bank cash plus for 5% fast food and 2% restaurants. cities double cash general spending 2%

I don't think so, 3% is pretty high on restaurants, and 4% on gas. The cards with rotating categories will beat these for 1/4 of the year, for example Freedom offers 5% on gas right now until April 1, but I don't think there's a 4% yearly gas card for no fee.
Pretty good card, it looks like
5% fort Knox credit union platinum for gas. all year, no fee

You don't have any option. Costco will convert it to city card & you'll get new one. Already confirmed with Amex.

Not saying I'm not pleased with this as I prefer Visa anyways and these perks are way better. But wow no heads up or choice in the matter at all....
Best part of this versus AMEX Costco - NO ANNUAL FEE
