I'm sure it's been mentioned and buried but extended warranty benefit goes away next month which sucks
Uhh yeah I have an Amex, this is not true lol
I'm sure citi fought hard in the bidding process to beat Amex to get the Costco account. Part of the terms were probably to offer better benefits for the customer....

Hooray...got my new welcome packet....and citi's anouncement of a 15.49% APR. WTF? Guess I'm no longer using this card and just retaining it for the account length.

If you care about APR you probably shouldn't have credit cards anyway.

LMAO. You do realize that carrying a small balance of around 10-15% actually has a greater positive effect on your credit than a 0% balance right?
I know a lot of people think that, but they're wrong shake head

The FICO model, which is used to produce the most widely used credit score in the United States, doesn't tack extra points onto your score for failing to pay off a balance in full at the end of the month.

In other words- you've been wasting money on pointless interest that hasn't benefited you in any way- and sounds like you've been doing it for a while too.

Or another source-

Keeping a card balance to boost credit score is dumb advice

If you don't like those sources here's an actual credit card issuer-

Fiction: You must carry a balance on your credit cards to build a credit history.

Fact: You do need to use your credit cards to build a credit history, but that doesn't mean you must carry an unpaid balance. In fact, your best strategy is to use your credit cards and pay off the bill in full each month so you keep your overall debt-to-credit limit low.

Google will find you dozens more all debunking the myth you've apparently been wasting money on.

And if you pay attention at all to your cards, every bit of percentage increase matters. This was already the only card that I had over 9.5%, so for them to jack it up another 2% is ridiculous.

Good Grief, I hope you're joking.
Do you really think carrying a balance helps you? How about using and paying ... that's what the banks really want to see. Your debt ratio is what hurts your credit, so carrying a balance reflects poorly.
Being a SDer, you should never want to pay more than you should ... paying interest on a stupid credit card is the biggest waste of money

Wow, you are a SDer? I always pay off my balances every month and have close to perfect score, 839. Don't waste your money paying interest to the credit card companies.

Before anyone else reads this thinking its true, NO. This is misinformation. Carrying a balance to try to improve your credit card score is stupid and wrong.

LOL you need to educate yourself on how the credit models work so you can stop wasting money carrying a balance.

You can pay your statement off in full every month and still have a balance reported.

If you carry a balance on a credit card on purpose, that's just stupid.

Make my credit card APR 400%, I don't care, I'll never have a balance.

Thats funny. I understand exactly how the credit models work. Theoretically it should have zero effect. I've got damn near perfect credit myself. Every time I've left my balances at 0, my score has dropped 10-12 points. Leave some on there, score goes back up. Given that we are now on the 9th version of the credit model, they clearly keep changing shit. This is SD...doesn't mean that we all view things the same way. I see people waste money on here all the time, because its a "deal". Do they need it, no, but..gotta spend money cause its a "deal". For me leaving a balance and spending less than 100$ paying interest across all of my cards is a whatever. I spend more than that a month on coffee. And I pay my balances off. Some months I get hit with interest, sometimes I don't. Either-way a lot of people in this country carry balances. 15% is just stupid. That was my bigger point.

you're absolutely right. this IS SD, and I do find it rather humorous that you're on SD and telling people about your theory to leave a balance on a credit card where they're charged an absurd amount of interest so they can maintain a "perfect" credit score, whereas not having a balance will jeopardize that "perfect" credit score by 10-12 point.

Shrug. Different opinions for different people. Spending the money to maintain the higher score is worth it to me, though its not everyone's choice. Some would rather blow it on pointless stuff.

The bigger point to all of this is... A lot of people carry balances, so they need to watch carefully that when their card gets switched to Citi, the interest rate is going up. My understanding was it was supposed to stay the same. This is not the case.

Thats all I have to say. /end discussion.

People carry balances because they don't have the money to pay. When you do have the ability to pay and don't, you are just wasting money.
