Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but what I can tell you is putting this easy, rip open packet into a bowl with milk eggs and butter is so damn easy. Convenience, my friend, that's the keyword.

If time permitted, I'd grow the corn, wheat, raise some cows, chickens, and churn my own butter, but having 3 kids and working 50+ a week doesn't allow that,so I'll just stick with the damn convenience of what I stated above.

Have a great Sunday!
Mhmmmm, cornbread.
I don't understand why you'd think that people should take the time to purchase, store, and organize multiple ingredients if they ever want to bake something.

Then again, apparently everyone should be making their own preworkout mixes too.

I wish I had the free time these people do.

Good deal OP, but just a warning to those that can't eat gluten — these are NOT gluten free.

It's cheaper to just buy the corn meal, flour, eggs, milk, oil, sugar, and baking powder. It's so easy to make that it's funny how some people will buy the pre-mixed ingredients for convenience. The recipe for making cornbread is on the box of corn meal for Quaker oats.
This. Plus... it is so much better tasting. I make mine with buttermilk--so I leave a container of the ultra pasteurized buttermilk in the fridge at all times. The expiration date is many weeks from the purchase date, and even then it is a suggested use by date. Seems like it lasts forever. Makes for so much of a lighter more delicious cornbread than a mix possibly could.

I tried doing that. Except I used all corn meal, no wheat, and no sugar. I expected the corn to provide enough sweetness. The corn meal I got doesn't taste like corn. It was a name brand, I forget what, but probably the most popular. So now I don't know what to do. I am a gluten glutton, wheat is not a problem for me, but I also like corn. The corn used for good tamales taste real good, I think they use little or no sugar for them.

I am certainly tempted to take the easy route and get the mix and I hope the corn is good corn.

Apparently it is possible to make an equivalent of this mix by combining corn meal, wheat and baking soda. Unless you especially like sodium aluminum phosphate and Palm Oil.

Mix with a can of creamed corn and a tbsp or two of butter plus 1 egg. You'll get something very similar to Chi chi's sweet corn cake.

What part of convenience is funny to you?
