Not true! I get great smoke flavor out of my Pit Boss pellet grill (820 Pro) without a smoke tube. Brisket, whole turkey, & whole chickens, ribs. Cook at the proper temperature & duration will yield great smoke flavor. I even smoked a peach pie with apple wood pellets, best smoked pie ever.
This competition blend is pretty much the same as the Kirkland brand at Costco. This is now $1 less than Costco.
$12.99 in store price at Costco.

Are these better than Costco pellets? I get no smoke flavor from the Kirkland pellets.

These give a good smoke flavor. I prefer their cherry or apple blend, though.

These are fine, great price. I do longer cooks to get more smoke flavor & add hickory or more oak. Low & slow.

If you want heavier smoke flavor add more hickory to the mix. Comp blends are typically a mild flavor since they have maple & cherry.

I'm headed there tomorrow and will see if the warehouse price is better. I know it varies by store, but going by online pricing, Costco's 40lb bag is $20.99. For those of us who don't want to lug around a bunch of 40 lbs bags (sorry in advance UPS guy) this is a steal with free shipping on a $45 purchase

Shush!!! Hickory pellet prices are reasonable. When word of this gets out we'll be paying triple! Ha ha

I've been buying 20lb bags of Hickory at the grocery store for about this same price. Hmm, do I want to store a bag that's 2x the size, and is a blend and not full-on hickory, all to save $10? Agonizing decisions for a slick dealer.

You're not going to get smoke flavor from most pellet grills. They're too efficient. Most are convection ovens. You could try a smoke tube but you have to be careful about dirty smoke.

Yep. I sometimes use a smoke tube thingy but it's easy to over-do it too.
This is a greate little device, way heftier than I had expected. But it borderline ruined some pork belly I did last week. Need to learn it, your grill/smoker, and pellets.
